Essential Health Information about the UAE

No vaccinations are required for entry to the UAE, however a certificate is required for cholera and yellow fever if arriving from an affected area. Medical care is excellent in the main cities, but its a bit expensive, while medicines and medical care are not always available in the outlying areas. Health insurance is essential, If you are a tourist, you must obtain in order to get a visa, and if you are sponsored, your sponsor is obliged to provide you with health insurance.

Prescription drugs

Certain prescription drugs that could be legal elsewhere in the world may be banned in the UAE. If you need to take these then you must ensure that you take a doctor’s prescription with you. A list of which drugs are illegal can be found at Abu Dhabi Customs website.
